This walk can either be a short stroll along side the river Afon Twrch up to the disused lime kilns. Or you can walk up the mountain side to the quarries to make it a little more challenging, add some extra miles and see the amazing views of the western area of the Brecon Beacons National Park.
Parking at 51.7978140,-3.8055720 Pen-y-Graig Road, Cwmllynfell SA9 2YP there is a small layby for two cars. If there is no space here there is a carpark in Cwmllynfell, which will only add a few hundred yards to your walk.
The walk from the carpark to the lime Kilns is just under a mile on a good footpath that follows the Afon Twrch. The map below takes in the limestone quarries to extend the walk. Once you are up on the hill heading towards the quarries, this area can be a little boggy in places and the footpaths are not well defined.
Walking up towards the quarries these are the views
